I made a commitment to you to not charge back rent from the day we were ordered closed and the day we are ordered open. I am fulfilling that promise.
I wanted to write a nice letter to slide under your door for your return, but I do not want to catch you off gaurd because not everyone is opening back tomorrow and rent resuming needs to be addressed. According to your lease, rent is charged Thursday through Wednesday in advance. Here is a copy of that item from your lease.
8. SUITE RENT Associate will pay rent weekly. Rent is due and payable in advance at the Property Manager’s office located at 10350-D South Post Oak, Houston, Texas 77035. RENT IS DUE ON OR BEFORE 5:00 PM. THURSDAY OF EACH WEEK. Payment shall be by check, money order or cashiers check.
You will not be charged for today but this means that rent will be prorated this week starting tomorrow, Friday the 8th thru next Wednesday the 13th and is technically due Saturday. If there is confusion about when rent is charged it is probably because we made a verbal change many years ago to allow you more time to pay rent and changed the DUE date to Saturdays at 3:30 but we never changed the charge date. Look at any old statement and you will see the charge date next to your charge is always a Thursdays date...
I understand that some of you were not prepared to come back on such short notice and to pay this Saturday. Some of you have made a personal decision to not come back this week and it is your decision to do so as it is your business. There is no easy way to tell you this but Salon Meyerland must resume, therefore rent is resuming. I understand that many of you have seen very little or no income from government programs, I get that. Again, I expect everyone to keep food on their tables and a roof over your head first. Therefore, even though rent is resuming, and will need to be eventually be paid. If you cannot pay this Saturday please do not stress; come see me about your particular situation so we may work out what is best for you to not get too far behind under the circumstances.
A statement will be under your door tomorrow with details on how much pro-rated rent was relieved. It will include any balance you might have had before the shut-down, for example some of you stopped paying rent the week prior to the shutdown because I said it was optional. Again, I am very flexible, so please come see me at my desk or text me. You may temporarily pay by sending payments through Zelle at 832-606-3355.
As always, my attempt at getting my business messages out does not always come easy for me and I don't always know how to say it. The messages are not always clear and can be hard to understand.
