What would Michelle Obama do?

The former First Lady made headlines on Jan. 20 after she stole the show with her look at Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' inauguration. Seriously, she looked amazing.

SUPPORT BLACK-OWNED BIZ:  Obama's hair stylist can be found in Washington, D.C., but we're in Houston, and that's a pretty lengthy distance.

On the bright side, there are some Bayou City hair stylists and salons you can patronize if you're hoping to channel your inner Michelle, including Salon Meyerland. The location operates 74 salons under one roof in individualized private salon suites, and 59 of them are Black-owned.

"The pandemic, political climate and racial divide has stripped away our sense of normalcy," said Salon Meyerland representative Trinita Toler. "In today's climate it is essential that support of Black-owned, independent businesses is showcased."

The Houston Chronicle named Salon Meyerland its sixth best place to work among small businesses in the Top Work Places list for 2016, and eighth in 2017. The accolades clearly speak for themselves. How has the salon managed to secure a top spot with employees and customers alike? Through great customer service, quality work and products, and by keeping up with education and the latest trends.
